Obituary

Gregg Barkley, 48, of Moseley, VA, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 14, 2022.  Gregg was preceded in death by his parents Lois and Edward Barkley. He is survived by his beloved wife of 11 years, Valorie Barkley; daughter, Emma Barkley; three sisters, Kimberly Hay (Jack), Helen Barkley, Carmella Barkley; three brothers, Ezra Barkley, Brian Barkley, Thomas Barkley; stepson, Christopher McPhetridge (Kimberly); two stepdaughters, Christin McPhetridge, and Brianna Deoudes; and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition, he is also survived by a granddaughter on the way, Paisley McPhetridge.

His family was the light of his life; they took road trips together as often as possible, trying to get lost. However, his vast knowledge of direction always brought them home. In 2020, they embarked on a cross country road trip and had the time of their life visiting all the destination spots. Plenty of dad jokes and love of classic country music were shared between him and his daughter during those road trips. When they weren’t traveling, he enjoyed performing as a comedian at The Funny Bone and other venues in Richmond, to include being on Comcast’s Richmond Spotlight. He loved his massive collection of diecast model cars, spending Christmas at Cocoa Beach with his family, watching Jeopardy!, and watching car auctions. In April of 2022, he finally able to attend the Barrett-Jackson Car Auction in West Palm Beach, Florida. On most Friday nights, you would find him and his family at Pino’s Pizza in Chesterfield where the owners and staff knew them as family. When not with family and friends, he worked as claims manager in insurance for 20+ years, most recently working with Kinsale Insurance Company. He was formerly the president of both the Richmond Claims Association and Virginia State Claims Association. Though he is no longer here with us, he will forever be in our hearts.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Saturday, May 21, 2022, at Morrissett Funeral & Cremation Service, 6500 Iron Bridge Road. His funeral service will be held 2:00 pm following the visitation.
