Obituary

Helen Rae Powell, 86, of Chester, VA went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 29, 2024. She was born on November 19, 1937 in Richmond, Virginia to the late William S. and Mabel Powell. She is also preceded in death by her granddaughter, Kristina Gill, and great niece, Ashley Jones.

She is survived by her beloved daughters, Michelle Wray (Steven) and Terry Paris; sons, Christopher Little and William Little; grandchildren, Rita, Mark (Carly), Jennifer (Ricki), and Jimmy (Crystal); great grandchildren, Taylor, Clare, Lance, Gunter, Alaina, Brannen, Raiden, Kaylie, Payton, Avery, Millie, Liam, Devin, Benjamin, Brendan, Layla, Kendra, Jordan, Grace, and Abbey; sister, Charlotte Powell; niece, Kim Jones (Mike); and great niece, Morgan Jones.  

During Helen’s free time she absolutely loved the beach and sun tanning, she was a very active lady. She enjoyed spending time with her family, whom she loved dearly during special occasions and holidays. Helen had a love for dolphins and loved her dog, Baby. She looked forward to seeing her sister, Charlotte, on the weekends, they would go shopping and out to eat. Helen spent many years caring for others until she retired as a nurse, she touched many lives. Helen always dressed neatly, “everything had to match”. She had love for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, she will be dearly missed.

A life celebration will be held on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at 5:00 p.m. at her home.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to her beloved children.
