Obituary

Helen Young, 95, of Chesterfield, Va. went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 30, 2021. She is preceded in death by her father, John Perry Whitman; mother, Daisy Morgan Whitman; and loving husband, James Bristow Young. She is survived by her daughters, Gale Y. Griffith (Mickey), Dale Y. Hicks, Debra Y. Talley; 7 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. The youngest of four siblings, born in Zolfo Springs Florida, she received her registered nursing degree from Rutherford Hospital (now Rutherford Regional Medical Center) in Rutherfordton, North Carolina and practiced most of her nursing career at Medical College of Virginia Hospital (now VCU Medical Center). Until recent years she was an active member of Webber Memorial Baptist Church which she had been a member of since moving to Richmond with her family in 1952. Her funeral ceremony will be held Monday, February 15, 1 pm at Morrissett Funeral and Cremation Service, 6500 Iron Bridge Rd. N. Chesterfield, Va. Her interment will follow at 3 pm at Forest Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in her name to Webber Memorial Baptist Church, http://www.webberchurch.org/.
