Obituary

Herbert H. Carter Jr. (Herb), of North Chesterfield (formerly of Charles City, VA), passed

away November 1, 2023. He was born April 5, 1952 to Herbert H. Sr. and Kathleen Bradby

Carter in Charles City, VA, the second of six children. He graduated from Charles City High

School in 1970, and later from DeVry University in Columbus, OH. Herb spent many years as a

computer field engineer for Data General, retiring in 2022. Herb married Jennifer Lynne Carter

in December 1972 and they were married for 49 years before her passing in 2021.

 

Herb was funny, hardworking, and enjoyed taking care of his family. He especially enjoyed

woodworking and playing chess. He had many friends and served as a father figure to many

people.

 

Herb was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Lynne, and his sister Bertha Carter.

Left to cherish his memory includes his daughter, Leslita Carter; granddaughters: Jasmine,

Semeicha, Sapphira and Tzion; siblings: Lloyd Carter, Sr. (Elaine), Pearl Dwyer (Blandon),

Althea Miles (Henry Jr.), and Cheryl Jones (Archer Jr.); god-daughter, Krystal Connerly; two

uncles Thomas E. Carter and Robert H. & Elberta Cotman of Abilene TX; three aunts: Mary C.

Crewe, Lillian A. Crump , and Agnes B. Bradby; a host of nephews and nieces, cousins, other

relatives and friends.

 

A visitation will take place on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, from 5 PM – 7 PM at Morrissett

Funeral and Cremation Service, 6500 Iron Bridge Road, N. Chesterfield, VA 23234. Interment

will be private.
