Obituary

Hubert Powell Jr., 84, of Amelia Court House, VA went to be with the Lord and reunited with his loving wife on Saturday, March 15, 2025. He was born on January 31, 1941 in Warren, North Carolina to the late Rosa C. and Hubert R. Powell, Sr. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Betty Jean Powell; son, David Anthony Powell; granddaughter, Jennifer Coates; brothers, John Wesley Powell and Charles Powell; and sisters, Helen Thacker and Elizabeth Green.
He is survived by his sons, Hubert Lynn Powell and his wife Jackie Powell and Chris Powell and his wife Shawn Powell; step-son, Ronnie Williams; grandchildren: Nikki, Jessica, Jonathan, Amanda, Matthew, and Samantha; great grandchildren: Ally, Dylan, Brianna, Jay, Mason, and Ella; great grandchild, Brantley; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Hubert retired after 32 years of service as a fixer from Philip Morris. Family meant everything to Hubert, whom he loved dearly. Hubert lit up a room wherever he walked in, and who was full of laughter. He enjoyed being at the lake house with his grandchildren where they fished. Hubert especially loved his farm and gardening, but most of all he loved God. And like he always said, “just don’t get nervous.”
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 23, 2025 at Morrissett Funeral & Cremation Service, 6500 Iron Bridge Road, North Chesterfield, VA 23234. His funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, March 24, 2025 at the funeral home. Interment to follow at Dale Memorial Park, 10201 Newbys Bridge Road, Chesterfield, VA 23832.
