Obituary
Montgomery, James B. Jr., 54, departed this life on April 26, 2008, after a valiant fight with pancreatic cancer. Jim was passionate about learning. He earned his MPA from VCU and was in the last semester of his Ph.D. program when he was diagnosed with cancer. He found great joy in challenging work and had a long and varied career in information technology and project management consulting. Jim’s love of the great outdoors included sailing, camping, biking, and gardening. He was a talented woodworker and an ardent cook. He had a sharp wit and a brilliant mind, and many will miss him as their answer man. His ability to meet his illness with dignity, grace, and a sense of humor was inspirational. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Vicki Yesbeck Montgomery; his parents, James B. (Lee) and Mary G. Montgomery; his son, James B. Montgomery III (Blake) and his wife, Danielle; his daughters, Mae Ann Montgomery, and Kimberly Allman and her husband Joe; two precious granddaughters, Maddie (the light of his life) and Julia Allman; sisters, Peggy Williams and her husband, Jack, and Julie Conway and her husband, Stuart; brothers, Gregory Montgomery and his wife, Nancy, Michael Montgomery and his wife, Dawn, and his AFS exchange student brother Carlos Mejia; nieces and nephews; and other loving and faithful friends and family who blessed him and his family with comfort and support during his battle. A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, May 2, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Saint John’s Episcopal Church, 12201 Richmond St, Chester, VA 23831. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made at www.caringbridge.org/visit/jimmontgomery.
