Obituary

James Calvin Whitlow, 93, died Wednesday, May 5, 2021. He was born November 25, 1927 in Dundas, Virginia. James is preceded in death by his parents, James B. and Mary Whitlow and daughter, Janet Whitlow Lunsford. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Inez; children, Bruce (Marilyn), Barry (Susan) and son-in-law Jack Lunsford; two grandchildren, three step grandchildren; three great grandchildren and four step great grandchildren. James graduated from John Marshall High School and was a lieutenant in the Cadet Corps. He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II. He also attended Richmond Professional Institute 1948 to 1952. James worked for Stone and Webster Engineering Co and Virginia Electric and Power (Dominion Resources) where he retired March 1, 1988. Jim and Inez have been members of Oak Grove Baptist Church since 1955 where he served as a trustee, deacon and Sunday School teacher. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with Chop and David. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Morrissett Funeral & Cremation Center, 6500 Iron Bridge Rd. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in Dale Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Oak Grove Baptist Church, 3801 Beulah Road, North Chesterfield, 23237.

  2. We are so sorry for the families loss. Growing up down the street I knew him since I was 4 years old. He was a great man and is walking with Jesus in paradise now.
