Obituary

James Edward Shults passed away January 9, 2023. He was born February 26, 1939 in Sacramento, CA to Dallas Homer and Yvonne Vitaline Shults. James joined the Army right out of high school in 1957, serving tours in Vietnam and Korea, and retiring as a decorated Master Sergeant in the 80s. He then went on to become a contractor at Ft. Lee, retiring a second time at the age of 79. He had a great love for God, family, and his country. He also loved working in his yard and gardening, with his favorite pastime being a stamp collector. James is survived by his wife of 42 years, Vicki Shults; children, Michelle Yvonne Lee, Stuart Grant Shults, Eric Andrew Shults (Adriana), Brian Jones (Shannon), and Justin Shults; grandchildren, Eric Andrew Shults Jr. and Gabriella Shults, Charles T. Lee III and Tyler Christopher Lee; siblings, Julie Utz (James) and Dallas Homer Shults Jr. (Debbie); along with a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. A visitation will take place Sunday, January 15 from 3pm-5pm at Morrissett Funeral and Cremation Service, 6500 Iron Bridge Road in N. Chesterfield. A graveside service will be held at the Amelia Veterans Cemetery Chapel at 1pm Wednesday, January 18, 2023.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Fisher House or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
