Obituary
James Goodwyn Beck, Sr., 82, of Chester, a loving husband and father, passed away on Tuesday, February 4, 2014. He was the son of the late Annie Mae and Russo R. Beck, Sr. He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Priscilla Ryder Beck; children, Lisa Beck Wright; son, James Goodwyn Bodie Beck, Jr., Bonnie Lynn Fielder; brothers, Russo R. Beck, Jr., Maurice O. Beck, Sr.; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. James was a retired owner and operator of the local lumber company, N.B. Goodwyn & Sons Inc. for over 40 years. He will be remembered for being an avid deep-sea fisherman, his love of NASCAR, country music, and driving his truck, Tugboat. We all will miss his unassuming, humble kind spirit, generosity, and his playful sense of humor. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday at Morrissett Funeral & Cremation Service, 6500 Iron Bridge Rd. (Rte. 10). His funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Dale Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions be made to Troop 2815 Boy Scouts of America, 12132 Percival St., Chester, VA 23831, or to your local volunteer fire department or rescue squad.
