Dillard, James Mundy, Jr., 91, of Chesterfield, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 18, 2008. He was the widower of Margie Dillard, and is survived by his daughter, Cheryl Rudd; son, James M. Dillard, III; grandchildren, Scott Rudd and his wife Jennifer, Kevin Rudd and his wife Teri, and Kristin Ruddy and her husband Tony; great-grandchildren, Abbie and Bryson Ruddy, Lilly and Emma Rudd. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who was adored by all. Mr. Dillard, a WWII Army veteran, was a member of one of the first units to go ashore during the Normandy Invasion. He was a retiree of the Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company, with 30 years of service as an estate planner. He was also a past president of the Richmond Civitan Club, and a member of Branchs Baptist Church for 60 years. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm at the Morrissett Funeral Home, 6500 Iron Bridge Rd. (Rt. 10). His funeral service will be held at 2 pm Sunday at Branchs Baptist Church with interment in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the National D-Day Memorial Foundation, PO Box 77, Bedford, VA 24523.
