Obituary

James Travis Cooke, Sr., 87 of North Chesterfield, VA went to be the Lord on Saturday, January 20, 2024. Travis was born in Orrum, North Carolina and was the son of the late Paul and Nora Cooke. In addition to his loving parents, Travis was preceded in death by his grandsons, Damien Christian Cooke and Wade Garrett Bibey.

Travis is survived and missed by his loving wife of 61 years, Linda Edwards Cooke; his three children whom he loved dearly, Paula Tucker (Michael), Tracy Bibey (Jack), and Jamie Cooke. His grandchildren, Austin Tucker, Peyton Tucker, Brandon Allen, Nora Bibey, Shaelin Cooke, Ayla Cooke, and Brad Daniel; his sisters, Treva Jones and Wanda Chancey (Paul); his nieces and nephews; and especially his fur babies, George Cooper and Tiger.

Travis’s family were his pride and joy in life, and he cherished every moment spent with them. Travis’s big smile, contagious laugh, and witty since of humor brightened the lives of those around him.

After Travis retired from the Federal Reserve of Richmond, he could always be found outside either planting a garden, mowing the grass, and raking leaves. If he wasn’t working in the yard, you could find him in the shed tinkering and just sitting around talking with his friends.

The family wants to thank the wonderful staff at Bon Secours Community Hospice House, for the love, care, and support they gave him and his family during his time there. Also, Affinity Hospice Care, his nurse Jamie, who cared lovingly for him these past few weeks.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 3, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. at Morrissett Funeral & Cremation Service, 6500 Iron Bridge Road, North Chesterfield, VA 23234. Interment to follow at Dale Memorial Park, 10201 Newbys Bridge Road, Chesterfield, VA 23832.

The family will receive friends at Kingsland Baptist Church, 8801 Perrymont Rd, Richmond, VA 23237 for a luncheon and fellowship.
