Obituary
James Walker Davis, 93, of Chesterfield, VA passed away on Friday, January 2, 2026 in Chesapeake, VA. He was born in Richmond, Virginia to the late Arminstead Walker Davis and Helen Davis. He is preceded in death by his brothers, Patrick Davis, Richard Davis, and Joseph Davis; and sisters, Joyce Proffitt and Faye Sutton.
James is survived by his wife, Viola Taylor Davis; daughters, Edrie Davis Barnes and Audra Leigh Davis; stepsons, Troy Viar (Karla) and Chris Viar (Sherry); grandchildren: Spencer Barnes, Steven Viar, Avery Viar, and Olivia Viar; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jim proudly served in the United States Air Force and was stationed in Germany. He dedicated 20 years of his career to Chewning and Wilmer as a purchasing agent. Jim had a deep love for travel, football, ice cream, the beach, and Disney World. He was a devoted husband, father, and friend. He cherished his children and grandchildren beyond measure. He will be remembered for his kindness, humor, and his love of movies and fine dining.
The family will receive friends at 11:30 a.m. prior to the service at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at Morrissett Funeral & Cremation Service, 6500 Iron Bridge Road, North Chesterfield, VA 23834.
Interment to follow after the service; we will reconvene at 2:00 p.m. at Dale Memorial Park, 10201 Newbys Bridge Road, Chesterfield, VA 23832.

My deepest condolences to your family for your loss. I met Jim and Vi when I worked with Vi at Chesterfield County Utilities. We became close friends and Vi and I did many “girlfriend” activities together. I continued to visit them when I could after I moved to Texas. Jim was always welcoming to me and thrilled to see me on my visits. He was so comfortable to be with and was a genuine friend to me. I am so glad to have visited them this past June. I will miss him.
