Obituary

Janie Elizabeth Washington Mason departed this life at home on Saturday, August 2nd surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 3, 1954 in Chesterfield County, Virginia to the late Robert Lee Washington and Clara Rebecca Corbett Washington. 

Janie was preceded in death by her son, Dennis C. Mason, Jr. and brother, James T. Glass, Sr.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 53 years, Dennis C. Mason, Sr., a devoted daughter, Dana “Nikki” Mason, two grandchildren, Bridgette Spencer and River Reed, a bonus daughter, Cleo (Wade) Reed, one sister, Phyllis (Carl) Henderson, one brother-in-law, Russell (Christy) Mason, three sister-in-laws, Joanne (Bernard) Bibbs, Sheila Welcome, and Eloise Mason along with a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. She also leaves to cherish her memory several devoted friends, Florence Adkins, Pat Kiluk, Betty Smith, Shleta Goode, Marianne Mentz, Sarah Gregory and Beth Burkhead.

A memorial service will be held at 1pm on Tuesday, August 12, 2025 at Morrissett Funeral and Cremation Service, 6500 Iron Bridge Road, North Chesterfield, Virginia 23234.

  1. Janie, it has been so many years since I saw or spoke to you but I remember you from our years together at Carver High School, me you and Dennis . You were always so funny and kind and had such a good spirit and a good heart and I remember you loved you some Dennis. I wish your family peace and comfort knowing that we all will meet again.   2. Janie was the most gifted crafter I had ever met. We would often reconnect every year at various craft fairs. She was gracious and always with a smile. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.
