Obituary

Jean Alphonse St. Louis passed away peacefully on August 20, 2022 at the age of 67 while surrounded by his loved ones.

Jean is survived by his wife, Marjorie Fenelon; his children, Jean Flaubert Salazar St. Louis, Anthony Salazar St. Louis, Dorrenyta Fenelon, Alpho Jean-Julien 2nd St. Louis; his brother, Dieusson St. Louis; and his sister, Marie Carmel St. Louis. He is predeceased by his father, Anthony St. Louis; and his mother, Julienne Aldelson.

Jean was born in Dufailly Haiti, within the district of Mirebalais, on February 4th 1955. In Haiti, He got his black belt in Taekwondo while he was a part of the Haitian military. He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Individualized Studies at Virginia State University, then he obtained a Master’s degree in Public Administration at Strayer University. He worked many years as a teacher, teaching mostly languages to all age groups throughout his career. He was a polyglot, able to speak and teach in five languages: Haitian Creole, French, English, Spanish, and German.

Jean believed strongly in God and in education so, he did is best to impart both on his children and to anyone willing to listen. His favorite hobby was reading; he would read everyday for years, until he couldn’t physically do it any longer. His next favorite pass time was talking about politics whenever he got the chance. He was a very friendly man and felt confident to start a conversation with any person regardless of who they were. Most importantly, he was a spiritual man, always reading the word of God and always doing what he could to get closer to the LORD. His passing has left his family and friends with a feeling of great loss. He will be deeply missed.
