Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jermaine Edward Miller, who left us peacefully on October 3, 2025, at the age of 52. Born in New York and later settling in Chester, Virginia, Jermaine was a vibrant soul who lived life to the fullest.

Jermaine was a talented chef, known for his love of cooking and his ability to bring people together around a delicious meal. He had a sharp sense of style and was never seen without one of his many beloved hats, a collection that truly reflected his unique personality. Those who knew him will fondly remember his joyful spirit and the way he lit up any room.

Jermaine loved spending time with his family, especially his children—Octavia, Tarik, and Zhamiek—and he adored his granddaughter, Emora. He cherished every moment with his nieces and nephews, always ready to play or lend a listening ear. He had a passion for football and basketball, and he cherished the days spent fishing with his dad, as these were the moments that made life special. Jermaine had a special bond with his “big” little sister, Lawana, and she will miss that special friendship and connection they had forever.

Jermaine was preceded in death by his father, Edward “Skip” Miller; grandparents, Leon Miller Sr., Bertie Whitehurst, Pablo and Bernarda Santiago; uncles, Leon Miller Jr., James Miller, Larry Miller, Carlos Santiago, Pablo Santiago, and John Santiago; aunts, Elizabeth Gonzalez, Maria Hamner, Maria Santiago, Ivette Santiago, and Mitya Santiago.

Jermaine is survived by his children, Octavia Miller, Tarik Randers, Zhamiek Van Dyke; granddaughter, Emora Miller; mother, Lydia Miller; siblings, Lawana Miller (Dashein), Shaun Corbett (Shenequa), and Sheryl Ryan; uncle, Harry Miller (Miriam); aunts, Eula Pugh, Dorothy Pugh, Carolyn Miller, Sharon Myers, Ruth Pugh (David), and Evelyn Santiago; and nieces and nephews, Kalik Carlton, Kiara Dunning, Kayla Holmes, Khalil, Kyree, Samire, and Avianna Corbett.

The family will receive guest from 12:00-1:00 pm with Jermaine’s funeral service to follow at 1:00 pm on Sunday, October 12 at Morrissett Funeral & Cremation Service, 6500 Iron Bridge Rd., N. Chesterfield, VA 23234.
