Obituary

Hanbury Jewell Grimes Hanbury, 83, of Chester, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 21, 2006. She was born June 7, 1922 in South Norfolk, VA to the late Everett and Irene Grimes. She was preceded in death in 1948 by her infant daughter, Sharon Hanbury, her young son, Allan Hanbury in 1952, and a nephew, Wayne Sawyer. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, A. Lee Hanbury; sister, Mildred Kight of Chester, VA; brother-in-law, Maurice Harris of Chester, VA; nieces, Peggy Kiebach and her husband, Dennis of Redding, PA, Nancy Walker and her husband, Warren of Chesterfield, VA, Brenda Jones and her husband, Bill of McLean, VA; nephews, Frank Sawyer and his wife, Madelyn of Norfolk, VA, Randall Harris and his wife, Ann of Chesapeake, VA, Jack Harris and his wife, Linda of Chester, VA; many great nieces and nephews. Jewell was a former member of South Norfolk Baptist Church, Princess Anne Plaza Baptist Church, Cavalier Yacht and Country Club, and Princess Anne Country Club in Virginia Beach. She was an active member in the Faithful Workers Sunday School Class at Branchs Baptist Church, a member of Meadowbrook Country Club, and Meadowbrook Women’s Club. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Thursday at the Morrissett Funeral Home, 6500 Iron Bridge Rd. (Rt. 10). Her memorial service will be held 11 AM Friday at the funeral home with Dr. Cecil J. Chambers officiating. Graveside services will be held 3 PM Friday in Riverside Memorial Park in Norfolk, VA. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to a charity of your choice.
