Obituary
Jill Rust, 62, of Midlothian, VA went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 21, 2024. She was born on July 2, 1962 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Rhoda West and the late Harold West, Sr.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 40 years, Edward Rust; son, Jeremy Rust; daughter, Mandy Smith (Edward); mother, Rhoda West; sister, Joy Chickering; brother, Harold West, Jr.; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Friday, July 26, 2024 at Morrissett Funeral & Cremation Service, 6500 Iron Bridge Road, North Chesterfield, VA 23234.
Jill never really met a stranger. She had the ability to talk with almost anyone, and often was lifted by a conversation with others. She particularly enjoyed talking about her faith and sharing the Lord’s word. She and Ed met and married at a young age while he was in the military and moved with him to Virginia, where he was stationed. They started a family together soon after, and she dedicated herself to being a loving wife and mother at home. She later worked as a childcare provider until her health prevented her from continuing. Ed lovingly credits her with making many sacrifices so that he could have the career he wanted as a firefighter and paramedic. She was actively involved in the lives of her children while they were growing up. She was a long time Girl Scout Leader, helped Ed as a Den Leader in the Cub scouts, an active member of the school PTA, and worked with several youth groups through the churches they attended. She was known for planning fun and exciting themed birthday parties and loved camping with her family. She was a desert connoisseur, an animal lover, and a genuinely kind spirit. She loved serving the Lord and helping with anything she could at her Southside Nazarene Church home. As the years progressed and she suffered from mobility problems, she still loved her family as fiercely as anyone could, and through various ups and downs she began to share her faith even more freely and openly to anyone that would listen. She impacted uncountable lives before she went to her Heavenly home. In her last few months, she was hospitalized for a very extended period. Many nurses that cared for her would often return to visit her after their shift ended, or when they returned after their days off.
Her funeral service will be held immediately following the visitation at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment to follow at 2:00 p.m. at The Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia, 10300 Pridesville Road, Amelia Court House, VA 23002
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to Crater Community Hospice, 3916 S Crater Rd, Petersburg, VA 23805.
