Obituary
Jimmy Miller, 81 of Chester, VA passed away in the quiet of the early morning hours on Tuesday, May 27, 2025. He was preceded in death by his parents, Crate and Emma Miller; and brothers, Billy Miller and Al Miller. Jimmy is survived by his devoted wife Margot Miller; daughter, Suni Zmich (Kurt aka Meathead); beautiful granddaughters, Anna Zmich and Melodie Zmich; lively sisters, Pat Schnering and Rose Hunter (Larry); trustworthy in-laws (who were like brothers and sisters to him) Paul & Gail Spector and Ken & Ade Spector; and several fun-loving nieces and nephews, many of whom he adored (as it was mutual). He loved fishing, hunting, and hiking, saying the beauty of the Alps affirmed his belief in God.
Jimmy was always proud of his military service, and in the recent decades when America finally became proud of its soldiers in return, he was extremely pleased. As a career Army Master Sergeant, he enthusiastically traveled the world as a quartermaster, teaching and helping others implement logistics systems using the instruction manuals he wrote with his team. When he retired after 20 years of service, he continued his logistics career in the civilian world, exchanging his army fatigues and combat boots for suits and wingtips.
As president of his neighborhood’s HOA for nearly two decades, Jimmy loved the camaraderie and friendships he made while serving on the board. He tackled the HOA’s organizational needs and utilized his diplomatic skills learned in the Army; the volunteer position suited his personality well.
And while some of Jimmy’s happier moments occurred in the Army, HOA, and nature, his ultimate happy place was with his wife Margot. His reason for living was her happiness.
Jimmy’s funeral service will take place at 1:00 pm on Friday, June 6 at the Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia, 10300 Pridesville Rd., Amelia Court House, VA 23002. Please arrive at 12:30 pm to line up for the procession to the chapel. In lieu of flowers, Margot requests donations be made in his memory to one of Jimmy’s favorite charities: Tunnel to Towers Foundation https://t2t.org/ or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital https://www.stjude.org/.

Dear Margot, I was sorry to hear of Jim’s passing. I can say he was a lovely man who didn’t mind you having our Aglow committee meetings there. He was very kind and hospitable and I know he will be missed by you and your family very much. Praying for you and everyone who loved him dearly.
Peace and Blessings!
