Obituary

Joan Anne Leedy, 73, of Chesterfield, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 25, 2019. She is survived by her husband, Arnold “Bert” Leedy, Sr.; son, Arnold “Butch” Leedy (Anne), Jr.; daughters, Renea Allen and Tonya Carnes; brother, Otto Ittner (Joan); sister Sharon Daniel (Grady); grandchildren, Hannah (Jordan), Grayson, Brandon, Cameron, Aaron, Caleb, Colby, Chloe, and Cory; great-grandchildren, Tony and Noah; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Otto Ittner, Sr. and Mae Fontaine; and her twin sister, Frances Gooch. Joan retired from Philip Morris after 36 years of service. She was married to her childhood sweetheart, soldier boy “Bert” for 54 years and 11 months. Her credo was “no fool, no fun…without us, there would be none”. Joan loved to sing, dance, and be with family at Lake Gaston, where many fond memories were made. The family will receive friends 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Morrissett Funeral & Cremation Service 6500 Iron Bridge Road (Rte. 10). Her funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Heritage Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Dale Memorial Park. The family asks that donations in Joan’s name be considered for the Heritage Baptist Church, Camp 180 at 7777 Cogbill Rd., N. Chesterfield, VA, 23832 or http://www.hbcministry.net.

  2. I remember Joan so well.She was such a sweet person.She had a beautiful smile.I enjoyed working with her.When we worked together my last name was Pope.I got married after I retired.I know Bert and the family will miss her so much.My thoughts and prayers are with each and everyone.
