John Calvin Stinson Jr., 79, of N. Chesterfield, VA, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 25, 2022. He is remembered as a loving son, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. John was always there for his family and rarely missed a ballgame, dance recital or any other event in their lives. He was looking forward to celebrating his 80th birthday and 60 years of marriage in July. Most of his life he worked as a building contractor, but is also remembered as an avid fisherman, hunter and storyteller. With help from his boisterous voice and extroverted personality, he never met a stranger.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John C. Stinson, Sr. and Alma Stinson; sister, Sheila Morgan; and brother, Paul Stinson. He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Judith Stinson; sisters, Linda Puryear and Barbara Collie; two daughters, Teresa Rogers (Carson), Joanne Dudley (Jerry); grandchildren; Evan Rogers (Courtney), Brett Rogers (Lindsay), Mattie Fleischer (Collin), Ethan Dudley, and Emma Dudley; great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Grayson, Natalie, and Calvin Rogers.
The family will be receiving friends on Friday, July 1, 2022, at 11:00 am with a memorial service to follow at 12:00am at Morrissett Funeral and Cremation Service, 6500 Iron Bridge Rd. North Chesterfield, VA 23234. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in his name to Brain Injury Association of VA at http://wwwbiav.net/get-involved/donate
