Obituary

Mallory, John Edgar Hollywood, 60, of Chester, VA, passed away unexpectedly with his brother, Earl Garnett Mallory III, on Monday, March 30, 2018. He is preceded in death by his parents, Nellie and Earl Garnet Mallory, Jr.; and granddaughter, Virginia Rose Vandermark. He is survived by his loving wife of 15 years, Gail Lee Mallory; children, John Mallory Jr. (Jennifer), Jennifer Vandermark (Jonathan), and Sarah Daniels (Dillon); step-children, Wayne Dwier (Becki), Travis Nicely, and Josh Nicely (Megan); grandchildren, Brayden, Wyatt, Sam, R.J., Chase, and Haylee; best friend, Rick Nicely; and furbabies, Emmy, Hannah, and Lacy. Hollywood retired from the Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office after 26 years of faithful service. A celebration of life for both John and Garnett will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 30, 2018, at Southside Church of the Nazarene, 6851 Courthouse Rd. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

  1. I was sorry to hear the news about “Hollywood” and his brother. I work with him for several years. My thoughts and prayers goes out to the family. You will be missed. RIP “Hollywood”.

  2. Words cannot express our feelings. We have never met any of the Vandermark family. We followed Virgini Rose’s journey and fell in love with an AMAZING FAMILY whom we feel we have known forever. I remember PaPa John saying at Virginia’s (Sweet Pea)memorial that if anyone got to HEAVEN to shout out 1, 2, 3 ready or not, here I come and you would surely hear a precious little giggle. So o KNOW he and her Great Uncle are playing endlessly, singing and shouting!!! They are special Angels now watching over y’all❤
