Obituary

John Steinmetz, 84, of Midlothian, VA went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 9, 2025. He was born on March 29, 1941 in Richmond, Virginia to the late John Charles Steinmetz, Jr. and Mildred Louise Withers. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Esther Worley Steinmetz; and son, John Charles Steinmetz, IV.

He is survived by his daughters, Lisa Oakley (Ray) and Cynthia Hohlbauch; son, Ben Steinmetz (Dani); daughter-in-law, Ellen Steinmetz; grandsons, Chris Pulley, Jay Pulley (Cierra), Steven Bew, and Brett Steinmetz; granddaughters, Ann Lacks (John), Elizabeth Toney (Justin), Zerrien Steinmetz, Amanda Cox, Sabrina Hohlbauch, Kimberly O. Henson (Earl), Kelley Hayes, Holly Dunnavant, and Christy Oakley; and a blended family of numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

John loved listening to 50’s and classic country music. He especially enjoyed Hank Williams Sr, George Jones, and George Thorogood. John loved fast cars, boating on the Rappahannock River, attending weekend yard sales, spending summers in Garden City, SC, and NASCAR. He loved being surrounded by family and enjoyed seeing everyone having good times at the beach.

John’s celebration of life service will be held on Friday, May 2, starting at 3:00 pm in Mt. Pisgah UMC’s Christian Family Life Center at 1100 Mt Pisgah Dr., Midlothian, VA 23113.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to Mt Pisgah UMC, ATTN: Pastor’s Discretionary Fund, 1100 Mt Pisgah Dr., Midlothian VA 23113. Thank you for your help with this worthy ministry.
