Obituary

John William Adams, Sr. 80 of Willis, VA went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 28, 2026, surrounded by his family. A loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend, he lived a life marked by steady wisdom, and a deep commitment to the Lord and the people he loved.

Born on April 6, 1946 in Richmond, Virginia to the late Uriah and Beatrice Adams, he grew up with a strong sense of responsibility and a work ethic that shaped his entire life. He spent many years working as a Mail Handler with the United States Postal Service until his retirement.

He is survived by his daughter, Sandra Lynne Bush (Travis); his son, John William Adams, Jr. (Michelle); grandchildren, Travis Bush, Hunter Bush, Landon Bush, Hannah Bush, Meghan Bush, Crystal Adams and Sean Pate; ten great grandchildren; and sisters, Reva Myers (Robert) and Sylvia Brown (Dickie) who will carry forward his legacy of love, faith, and integrity. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Patricia Dawn Adams and his siblings, Edith Cheatham, Mary Leigh Rice, Eunice Tomlin and Melvin Adams.

Family was always at the center of his world. He loved working on his yard, telling stories and sharing his extensive knowledge of the gospel. He was lovingly called “Gramps,” and his “giggle” and “dadgummit” will be greatly missed.

A visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. followed immediately by a service at 12:00 p.m.on Thursday, June 4, 2026 at Morrissett Funeral & Cremation Service, 6500 Iron Bridge Road, North Chesterfield, VA 23234. Interment will be held at The Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia, 10300 Pridesville Road, Amelia Court House, VA 23002.
