Obituary

Riddle Jr., Karl “Bubba” Waverly, 50, of Chesterfield, Va., departed this world peacefully on December 21, 2020 to join his Lord and Savior (he accepted Jesus on 11/8/2020) after a courageous battle with cancer. Our loving, husband, father, brother, PawPaw, uncle, and friend reluctantly bid farewell to this life. Karl also known as Bubba and PawPaw made this world a better place and was always the brightest light in the room. He was the life of the party and there was never a dull moment. In 50 brief years, he lived life to the fullest and each day as though it was his last. He loved Bob Seger, Pool, NASCAR, gambling, traveling and most of all his Family and Friends. He graduated in 1988 from Lloyd C. Bird. He worked in construction and maintenance for over 30 years, the majority of which at Expert Construction. For the last 3.5 years at Chesterfield County Public Schools as a Building Operations Supervisor at Gordon and Providence Elementary Schools. This was his dream job which he was very passionate about. He was always willing to help others with anything; contributing his personal best and attention to detail to achieve quality and personal pride in a job well done. In his words, “It”™s not what you take with you when you go; it”™s what you leave behind”. His life and influence will forever be remembered in our hearts. He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Linda Powell; step-father, C.B. Lawson; grandmothers, Grace Violet “Snookum” Jones, Nora Louise “Nannie” Riddle; grandfather, Ira Lee Whitmore Sr. He is survived by his loving, devoted and self-less caretaker; best friend and wife, Ann Rice Riddle; son, Christopher Riddle (Alexis); grandchild, Landon Riddle; father, Karl Riddle, Sr. (Barbara), step-father, Kenny Powell; sister, Tammy Kirby (Frank); step-sister, Amber Sheffield (Jeff); nephews/niece Grayson, Kasey, Bradley, Hannah; in-laws, Charles and Linda Rice; a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins; and sister by heart Heather Crisp. Karl was a brother to many and a friend to all. We extend our deepest gratitude to VCU Medical Center for their support in our hours of need. Our heartfelt thanks to all who participated in the Pool Benefit Tournament, #RiddleStrong Stew Crew, Riddle Rally, Go Fund Me page, donations, and sales of t-shirts and bracelets. Visitation/Viewing will be held under current COVID regulations with a receiving line on January 22, 2021 5-8 p.m at Morrissett Funeral and Cremation Service, 6500 Iron Bridge Road. A celebration of Karl”™s life will be scheduled at a later date. On Saturday, January 23, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. we will depart with a procession for one last ride down “THE PIKE”. I feel like I am at a loss for words, this was such hard news to hear. For the few short years that I knew him, he was kind to everyone, he was caring, supportive, an all-around great man that will be missed. Sending hugs and saying prayers for him and his family.

RIP Karl Riddle. You made a lasting imprint in this world that will never be forgotten. Through all you family and friends your memory will live on forever. I’ve never seen so much love and support. God bless those who are left here to mourn your loss.

  3. Red says:

Karl Jr my heart is broken. You were such a kind, good hearted and loving person that was loved by so many.Your love for Christopher and Landon were beyond the stars. I have never known anyone who loved their mother the way you loved yours, you were her world as she would say. You never knew a stranger you wouldn’t give the shirt off your back too. I am going to miss your kindness, your compassion for others but most of all your smiling face your love for Seger, shooting pool, your family and friends. This world will not be the same without you as you brought so much happiness into everyone’s life. May your family find peace and comfort.
Chances are, until we meet again
    Love you always,
    Red
