Obituary

George Randolph Glass, 92, of Marco Island, FL and Richmond, VA, completed his last journey on Sunday afternoon, April 22, 2007. Randy passed away due to complications from his last great adventure while traveling from Florida to Virginia. Randy was born in Ft. Lauderdale, FL and was raised in Homestead, FL. His career in the military started in Homestead and from there he completed tours of duty in China, Burma, and India in WWII. His military career took Randy all around the world until his retirement in 1978, when he and his family moved to Marco Island, FL. Randy, or “Gramps” as his close friends and family called him, was an avid boater who enjoyed being on the water. Recently, Gramps decided to take one last road trip, and this week Gramps’s last great adventure came to an end after one final trip to Marco Island, FL. A fitting end for an original Florida Cracker who grew up around the marinas of Miami Beach, FL. Randy was predeceased by his wife of 51 years, Helen Glass, who passed away in 1997. He is survived by his son and three daughters, Randy Lee Glass of Texas, Cynthia Glass Swineford of Richmond, VA, Liza Glass Davis of Sacramento, CA, and Stephanie Glass Hague of Marco Island, FL. Randy has one granddaughter in California, Chelsea Davis, two grandsons in Texas, Steven Glass and Michael Glass, three grandchildren in Virginia, Lincoln Swineford, Sean Swineford, and Shelby Swineford, and four granddaughters on Marco Island, FL, Caitlin Curtis, Frankie Hague, Maddie Hague, and Ellie Hague. Randy also has four great-grandchildren in Virginia. Randy will be missed by all who knew him and enjoyed the many stories of his worldly travels. His quick wit and funny stories will not be forgotten as his legacy to all who knew Gramps. A celebration of his life will be held with a memorial service at 5 PM on Wednesday, April 25, 2007 at the Morrissett Funeral Home, 6500 Iron Bridge Rd. (Rt. 10), Richmond, VA.
