Obituary

Knox Allen Slagle, Jr., 70, of S. Chesterfield, VA, went to be with the Lord on Monday, August 27, 2019. He was a loving and devoted husband to Maxine Slagle; father to Doug Case, Lauren Slagle (Olivia), and Michael Slagle; and brother to Stephen Slagle (Gail), Mark Slagle (Karen), Diana Gorman (Jeff), Andy Slagle (Afsaneh), and Angie Byrne (Donald). Allen is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family members. He is preceded in death by his parents, Knox and Augusta Slagle, and brother, Doug Slagle. Allen will be remembered for his sweet nature, infectious laugh, calming presence, and handsome smile. He was a life-long lover of music, particularly folk and a cappella, and could often be heard singing. A proud veteran of the Navy, Allen enjoyed telling stories of his many travels and time aboard the submarine (U.S.S. Will Rogers). He was an avid collector of toys and gadgets, specifically Legos, trains, and models. Most memories of him involve him sitting in his chair reading a good science fiction book or talking with his beloved family. In recent years, he enjoyed resting on the porch in the sun and playing with the children who visited him. Allen enjoyed the simple things in life and will be missed dearly by all who knew him. Funeral service is private.
