Obituary

Larry Augustus Rhoten, 76, of Colonial Heights, VA went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 7, 2023. Larry was born on April 12, 1946, in Carroll County, MD to the late Carlin and Marion Rhoten. He is also preceded in death by his brothers, Glen Rhoten, Wesley Rhoten, William Gover, and Dave Rhoten; and sister, Nancy Houchell.

 Larry relocated from Laurel Maryland in 1976 to Chester, VA. He and his lovely wife, Brenda Rhoten, got married on Christmas Eve in 1977. They raised four beautiful children together, and throughout the years they had many grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Larry enjoyed going on vacation, sitting on the porch in his rocking chair, being crafty and gardening. He wasn’t a man of many words, but he loved and cherished his family deeply. He worked very hard for his family. He retired from ADT after 20 years, and worked at the Virginia Historical Society for the past 30 years. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Brenda Kay Rhoten; daughters, Lisa Janosik (Bill), Kimberly Rhoten; sons, Adam Rhoten, Mark Sweatt; granddaughters, Alissa Seay (Jonathan), Adrianna Rhoten (Jason), Sarah Dinsmore (Scott), Jacklyn Weeks (Chris), Victoria Robinson, Ashlei Selden (Matt); grandsons, Markell Pittman, Matthew Janosik, Daniel Janosik; great-granddaughters, Alaynna Hicks (Nick), Telyna Hicks, Kynslee Chavis; great-grandsons, Elijah Hicks, Austin Dinsmore, Brantley Dinsmore, Carter Dinsmore; sisters, Jannet Corbin, Patty Haines; brothers, Gene Rhoten and Lacy Rhoten.

A private viewing for the family will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The family will receive friends and family from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 12, 2023, at Morrissett Funeral & Cremation Service, 6500 Iron Bridge Road, North Chesterfield, VA 23234. A memorial service will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on April 1, 2023 at Harrowgate Worship center. Located at: 13811 Harrowgate Rd Chester, VA 23831.
