  1. While we did not have the honor of knowing him personally, we see the incredible legacy he leaves behind through his amazing daughter, and our friend, Vanessa. The strength, kindness, and character she embodies speak volumes about the wonderful man and father he was.

We also want to express our gratitude for Vance’s dedicated service to our nation. His commitment to both his country and his family is something to be deeply admired. Through Vanessa, Vance’s impact continues, and we are grateful to have benefited from his influence by knowing her.

Our heartfelt condolences go out to your family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

  2. Ginny,

Dianna and I are very sorry for your loss.

Soft-spoken Vance was one of the nicest men we ever met. His dry sense of humor always perfectly matched the wry grin under his mustache.

Vance was a wonderful friend, with whom I always enjoyed running the trails of the Brunsummerheide. He was fun to work with and could always be counted upon to inject a bit of sanity into the workplace known as AFCENT.

While we haven’t seen y’all much since we left Holland in ‘86, we have never forgotten any of you, or the wonderful times we spent together. Valene was pretty small, but Vanessa always wanted to know “how you two big buccos doing?”. Those were the days and Vance was one proud Dad.

One of my favorite post-AFCENT memories is of Vance flying into Memphis, to visit, eat ribs at The Rendezvous and partake of outstanding Blues, with me, at Elvis Presley Park, on Beale Street.

Dianna and I loved y’all then, and we love you just as much now.

We are sure you will find solace in each other and the wonderful memories y’all made with Vance.

Please keep in touch and don’t forget, Dianna is a great listener and she always has a positive outlook.

    We love y’all!!
