Obituary

Lawson Miller Chenoweth, 86, of Chesterfield, VA went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 14, 2026. He was born on August 31, 1939 in Portsmouth, Virginia to the late John Thomas Miller Chenoweth and Georgia Mae Lawson Chenoweth.  Lawson served in the Army Reserves, and he and his business partner Cliff Carnes established American Applicators Inc. in 1971. Lawson presently holds a Bonneville Land Speed Record in 2016 in a 1932 Ford model A-Cylinder gas modified roadster. He was an avid car collector, auto racer, boater, NRA member, and entrepreneur.  Preceding him in death along with his parents is his brother, Michael Chenoweth.

Lawson is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Rosemary E. Chenoweth; sons, James Lawson Chenoweth (Lisa) and John Christopher Chenoweth (Kathleen); and seven grandchildren: Whittaker Chenoweth (Breana), Lillian Chenoweth Nesbit (Nicholas), Spencer Chenoweth, Lindy Chenoweth, Megan Chenoweth, and Paige Chenoweth; and great grandson, Bo Chenoweth; also surviving is his cousin Leny Webb.

A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 25, 2026 at Morrissett Funeral & Cremation Service, 6500 Iron Bridge Road, North Chesterfield, VA 23234.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Lawson’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
