Obituary
Bailey, Lurie R., of Chesterfield, was just shy of her 87th birthday when she went to be with the Lord. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, William ‘Bill’ Clyde Bailey; parents, Andy and Arlenia Raines; two sisters, Marie Gwinn and Ollie Ratcliffe; and six brothers, Willie, Andy, John, Sherman, Otis, and Narvell Raines. She is survived by her children, Doug Bailey (Katie), Teresa Radzom (Mark), and Judy Bailey; grandchildren, Jennifer Beckers (Andy), James Bailey, Steven Bailey (Melissa), Christina Bailey, and Joshua Wells; great-grandchildren, Adam and Isabelle; and her brother, Lonnie Raines. After graduating from Narrows High School, she moved to Richmond. While working at Standard Drug, her future would be changed forever when a man named Bill Bailey ordered a cup of hot chocolate. She worked and later retired from Verizon after more than 30 years. Bill and Lurie enjoyed their retirement traveling, spending time with family, and hosting large taco parties for all to enjoy. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 1, at Morrissett Funeral & Cremation Service, 6500 Iron Bridge Road (Rte 10). Her funeral will be held at the same location on Friday, March 2, at 10:30 a.m., followed by interment at Dale Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to Children’s Hospital of Richmond.

Judy, Teresa and Doug many years ago I used to get together with you all at your mom and dad’s beautiful home for one of your taco feast. Your mother and father were two of the very best wonderful people I’ve ever met, lots of fun and BIG Washington Red Skin Fans. Judy you and I were best friends for many many years working at Philip Morris together we went through a lot of things and I’m sorry I’m not there to comfort you but, I send you and your whole family hugs and my deepest heartfelt condolences.
