Obituary
Marsala H. Zimmer of Richmond Virginia, departed from this life on August 9th 2024 at the age of 83. She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas R. Zimmer, her parents, Howard and Bess Haverkamp, and her brother Howard Haverkamp. She is survived by her brother, Johnny, sister Linda, her 3 children, David, Teresa and Jimmy, grandchildren, Jessica, Daniel, Shannon, and Aaron, great-grandchildren, Amari, Ava, Ashton, and Olivia, and many loving nieces and nephews. Marsala enjoyed being a stay at home mom until her kids were in high school. She learned to do taxes from aunt Kaye and eventually she owned her own tax company, Zimmer Tax. She then sold it and she was an enrolled agent at Carey and Associates, Which is now Commonwealth Tax and Insurance. Marsala loved God and was a member of the Church of Christ her whole life. She held her faith close to her heart and was ready with open arms to join her heavenly father. Marsala enjoyed her work, traveling, and vacationing with her family, but mostly she enjoyed spending her days being the “go to matriarch” for everyone. Even though she has passed, Marsala will always be in the hearts and minds of all those she touched and we celebrate the amazing woman she was. A memorial service will be held on August 24th at Morrissett Funeral Home at 6500 Iron Bridge Road North Chesterfield, Virginia 23234. The immediate family will host friends and relatives from 1 to 2pm, the service will commence from 2 to 3pm and will be followed by reception on the premises from 3 to 5pm. Thank you for your love and prayers.

David, Teresa and Jimmy,
Our hearts go out to you in this time of sorrow.
We were blessed to spend a short visit with your mom in Maryland. She had so many wonderful things to say and so many family pictures to show off.
Aunt Marsala loved her family. Lean on each other.
Love, (your cousin) Lori and Ray McPherson

To my cousins David, Teresa, and Jimmy,
We are so sorry for the loss of your mother, and we are thinking of you during this difficult time. I always remember your mom’s infectious laugh! She seemed to be such a happy person and was so proud of her family. I got to see Marsala and Tommy when they were passing through Albuquerque on a trip and few years ago and we met for dinner, and they spoke so warmly about all of you. And the last time I got to see your mom was actually at my father’s funeral, and it was so wonderful that she was present.
Take care of each other,
Love, Donald Haverkamp and Jackie Kavan (my wife).
