Obituary

Martha Kerr (Taylor) Harris, “Little Doll” or “Sugar”, age 71 of Mechanicsville, formerly of N. Chesterfield, Virginia, went to her Heavenly home on Friday, December 3, 2021. She was preceded in death by her husband, James R. Harris (Handsome), her grandparents, James and Janie Cameron, (who raised her), her father Herbert T. Kerr, her mother Mary Alice Lane and her sister Marsha Kerr. She is survived by her special sister-aunt, Janie Eloise C. Chappell, McConnells, SC, her sisters, Sonni Boulton of Gulf Breeze, FL, Sandra K. Miettunen, Jackson, SC, and Lisa Pierce of Augusta, GA, her stepdaughter JoAnn Williams of Kings Mountain, NC, “grandson” Bronson Anderson, Waynesboro, VA, cousins Alicia Trathen of Liverpool, NY and Pierce Cameron of Chester, SC, and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews. She is also survived by friends that she considered as her family: Lucy Coles, Arlene and Robert Scalf, Jean and Belton Williams, Angelo and Barbara Woodhouse, Erma and Robert Jones, Jean Myers, and June and Charles Rasnick.

Martha was a member of Southminister Presbyterian Church, past Matron of Manchester Chapter #53 OES, and a member of the Order of the Armaranth. She retired from the Virginia Department of State Police with over 30 years of service. Martha enjoyed meeting new friends and sharing her humor with everyone. A memorial service for Martha, including an Eastern Star Service, will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday April 30, 2022, at Morrissett Funeral and Cremation Service, 6500 Iron Bridge Road (Rte.10), N. Chesterfield, VA 23234. Martha will rest beside her husband, in Dale Memorial Park.
