Obituary

Martha Osterbind Twiggs of North Chesterfield, Virginia passed away at home surrounded by her family on March 24, 2023. She fought a courageous battle against a glioblastoma brain tumor. She was born on September 18, 1951 in Chesterfield County. She was 71. She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Ethel Osterbind and her brother Jimmy Osterbind. She leaves behind her loving husband of 41 years, Gerald Twiggs, her devoted daughter, Stephanie Davis (Chris) and her grandson, Carter Davis whom she adored. She is survived by her sisters, Judy Green and Phyllis Green, her stepchildren Elaine Twiggs, Eric Twiggs, John Twiggs and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Martha was smart, funny, full of energy, and we are all better for having her in our life. She was a 1969 graduate of Meadowbrook High School and took a number of classes at Virginia Commonwealth University. Martha served the citizens of the Commonwealth of Virginia for 35 years and worked for the Department of Planning and Budget as a Budget Operations Manager. After her retirement, she worked two part time jobs for fun, was an avid shopper, and traveled with her husband, her daughter and her family, and her sisters. She loved any beach and the New River in Southwest Virginia.

The family will receive family and friends on Monday, April 3rd from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Morrissett Funeral and Cremation Service, 6500 Iron Bridge Road. Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 4th at 1:00 pm at Morrissett Funeral and Cremation Service.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Cullather Center http://cullather.org/. The family wishes to thank the staff of the Cullather Center for all their support during our journey as well as the Bon Secours Hospice Staff who provided loving care for Martha.
