Obituary

Smith, Marvin L. Bobo, 68, of Richmond, passed suddenly Friday, December 3, 2010. A native of Chesterfield, he was preceded in death by a son, Todd L. Smith, and brother, Clyde Shirley Burgess. Marvin was a plumber with Local 10 for 27 years; and was a general contractor. He was former president of Bensley-Bermuda Volunteer Rescue Squad; a member of St. Edwards Catholic Church; and a longtime member of the Dale Ruritan Club. Marvin was an avid golfer, and loved life. He was a source of general knowledge, and was loved by everyone. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Carol; daughter, Tracy S. Holmes (Gary); son, Thomas A. Smith (Karyl); five grandchildren, Alex, Shawna, Little Gary, Christian and Grace; brother, David Smith (Betty); sister-in-law, Alyne Burgess; and numerous other loving family members. The family will receive friends 3:30 to 4:15 p.m., Thursday, December 9, 2010, at St. Edwards Catholic Church, 2700 Dolfield Dr., Richmond, VA 23235, where a funeral Mass will follow at 4:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
