Obituary

Marvin W. Saunders, 83, of Urbanna and Midlothian, Virginia went to be with the Lord on Friday, September 1, 2023. He was preceded in death by his father, James L. Saunders, Sr.; mother, Evelyn Inez Snellings; brother, James L. Saunders, Jr.; and stepsister, Katherine Edna Burks. Marvin is survived by his children, Amy Saunders Trivette (Rick) and Jeffrey W. Saunders (Sarah); and grandchildren, Ian James Saunders, and Evelyn Saunders Head (Michael).

Marvin was born on May 16, 1940, and grew up in Chesterfield, Virginia. He was a graduate of Manchester High School. Throughout his life, Marvin enjoyed time spent on Kilmer’s Point, Urbanna, Virginia. Marvin loved the river, he loved fishing and raising oysters, but his greatest joy was sharing his usually bountiful catch with family, friends, and neighbors.

Marvin was a pioneer in information technologies and integral to the development of the early first responder dispatch system for Chesterfield County. He retired as president of United System Solutions, a software company he founded and operated for many years.

A memorial service will be held on September 20, 2023, at 4:00 p.m. at Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, 2341 Winterfield Rd., Midlothian, VA 23133.   1. Sending love and prayers to your family for the loss of Marvin. He loved his family and friends. Will cherish the memories of being on the Rappahannock River and him having a fishing rod in his hand.
