Obituary

Mary Elizabeth Ayers, 86, of South Chesterfield, VA went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 26, 2023. Born in Agusta County, Virginia on May 5, 1937, she was the daughter of the late William and Margaret Kiser. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 52 years, Robert Lee Ayers (Bobby), her sisters Sarah Golden and Nellie Sanderson and brother, John Kiser. She is survived by her son Robert Ayers (Vicki), grandson Brandon (Ariel), her beloved great grandchildren, Corey, Autumn, and Dawson, her sister Annie May Coppedge, and host of nieces and nephews. Mary retired from Filtrona after 30 years of service. In her retirement, she worked part time for Chesterfield County for approximately 11 years. Mary was defined by her beautiful smile, her love for life, helping others and her work ethic. She enjoyed being outdoors, gardening, watching football and spending time with her family; she especially enjoyed time with her family at the beach. She was a member of the Matoaca Christian Fellowship church for 27 years and engaged in many church activities. Her funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, January 8, 2024, at Morrissett Funeral & Cremation Service, 6500 Iron Bridge Rd, North Chesterfield, VA 23234. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., one hour prior to the service. Interment will be private on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at Dale Memorial Park, 10201 Newbys Bridge Rd, Chesterfield, VA 23832. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to the Matoaca Christian Fellowship Building Fund.
