Obituary

Mary Graham St. Clair, 93, of Richmond and formerly of Hopewell and Roanoke, VA, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 27, 2019. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, Marshall W. St. Clair; son, Jerry W. St. Clair; father, Henry Elliott Graham; mother, Willie Lucille Graham; three brothers, Jack, Henry (H.E.), and Stafford (Buddy) Graham; and five sisters, Mildred Drewery, Virginia Saunders, Helen Rockhill, Betty Miller and Dorothy Carper. She is survived by her daughter, Susan Grubbs (Lin); three granddaughters, Elizabeth Blackwell (Joe), Carly Grubbs (Dan Bryan), Crystal O’Briant (Jason); five great-grandchildren, Liam and Vera O’Briant, Nora, Grace and Clara Blackwell; and her loyal dog, Ellie. Her family was her pride and joy. The family will receive friends, Saturday, January 4, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. at Oakey’s Vinton Chapel, 627 Hardy Rd., Vinton, VA. 24179. A Graveside Service will follow at noon at Mt. View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. The family wishes to express their deep appreciation for the kindness of friends and the loving care of devoted staff at The Crossings at Bon Air over the last six years.

    Jerry and I are so sorry to hear of your mother’s passing. We know how sad it is but peaceful at the same time. We have felt these feelings very recently too.
    Your mother was a wonderful person. She had to be to produce a daughter as special as you. It was truly a witness to see how you took care of her. Beautiful.
    It is so sweet to hear Elizabeth talk about her grandmother. She really loved her and she impacted her life in such a positive way. My prayer is that we can do the same for our grandchildren. Our prayers are with you and Lin.
