Obituary

Mary Jean Mahone, 78, of N. Chesterfield, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 6, 2021. She is survived by daughters, Bonnie Hughes and Wendy Shroyer; son, Richard McGee; son-in-law, Timothy Shroyer; grandchildren, Kare, Cain, Kristina, James, Levi, Matthew, and Richard; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Shirley Angle; brother-in-law, Butch Angle; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and other family. Jean is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 31 years, Robert Wesley Mahone; mother, Mary Winston; and father, Lester Slaughter. Jean and Butch shared a love for life. Together, they started Mahone”™s Forge Historical Productions. Hands-on demonstrations were taken to the school systems. She was a member of the Daughters of the Confederacy. The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm on Thursday, April 15, 2021 at Morrissett Funeral & Cremation Service, 6500 Iron Bridge Rd. (Rte. 10), with her funeral service to follow at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow at Dale Memorial Park at 2:30 pm.

  2. We will remember Jean and Butch as youthful in their excitement about living history. It was wonderful to spend long days outdoors teaching and sharing with the next generation through Mahone’s Forge. May God bless your family.

You were the type person that no one will forget, I know I won’t> you were so proud of your Grandchildren Kare and Levi , I know them both thru reenacting, the same way I met you and Butch this was and is a great learning exp for all. Jean you will be missed by all of us that got to know you RIP along with God
