Obituary

Mary Lou Cawley, 95, of Midlothian, Virginia went to be with the Lord on February 21, 2024. She is preceded in death by her husband, Roy Gordon Cawley; parents, Rice T. Scott and Ella Peters Scott; brother, Louis Scott and his wife Nancy Scott; sister, Juanita Hussar and her husband Louie Hussar.

Mary Lou was survived by her son Carlton Wayne Cawley and his wife Dianne; grandson, Justin L. Cawley and his wife, Lesha; granddaughter, Crystal L. Cawley; great granddaughter, Lilah R. Cawley.

Mary Lou was born in Oak Hill, West Virginia. She attended Beckley University in Beckley, West, Virginia in the year 1946. She attended National Business College in Roanoke, Virginia from 1947 – 1948.

Mary Lou and Roy enjoyed a marriage of 58 years. Shortly after being married, they moved to Chesterfield, Virginia. During their marriage, they loved traveling, attending golf tournaments, and spending time with family and friends. They were long time members of Meadowbrook Country Club, where they enjoyed many special events. Mary Lou was also a long-time member of Southside Baptist Church.

Mary Lou worked for the Chesterfield School Board from where she retired after 24 years.

Mary Lou enjoyed crafting and going to craft shows. She also loved vacations at Nags Head, North Carolina with her family. She enjoyed playing cards and trips to the river with special friends whom they called themselves the “River Rats”.

Mary Lou passed while living at Spring Arbor Senior Living of Salisbury in Midlothian, Virginia.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 29, 2024 from 11:00 to 12:00 at Morrissett Funeral Home, 6500 Iron Bridge Road, North Chesterfield, Virginia 23234. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 at Morrissett. Private Interment to be held at Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia.
