Obituary

Mary Lou Marple, 73, of Chesterfield, went to be with the Lord on Monday, February 26, 2018. She is survived by her sister, Marian Elizabeth Reed (Tom); brother, Thomas W. McElwee, Jr. (Laverne); nieces, Elizabeth Boward Holmes and Suzie Reed; nephews, Bryan and Tommy Reed; great-nephews, Caleb, Cameron, and Collin Holmes. Mary Lou was preceded in death by her husband, Richard A. Rich Marple; parents, Marian Rafferty and Thomas W. McElwee, Sr.; nephew, Spencer Thomas McElwee. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at Morrissett Funeral and Cremation Service, 6500 Iron Bridge Rd. (Rte. 10) with a celebration of her life to be held at 7:00 pm. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday at St. Augustine Catholic Church with a Mass of Resurrection being celebrated at 7:00 pm. Mary Lou will be interred next to her beloved husband, Rich, on Friday at 10:00 am in Mount Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to St. Augustine Catholic Church, 4400 Beulah Rd., N. Chesterfield, VA, 23237.

    Very sorry to read of Mary Lou’s passing. She was an inspiration to many, mentor to a few and friend to all. I had many great laughs with Mary Lou and am honored to have met her.

  3. When I think of Mary Lou, the first word that comes to mind is “Grace”. The way she cherished her Church, Family and Friends was truly admirable. She led our group with love, friendship, caring and a trust that can only come from her ever strengthening strength if her Faith in God. She will live forever in my heart, and will always be and inspiration in trying times.
