Obituary

Mary Lou Marple, 73, of Chesterfield, went to be with the Lord on Monday, February 26, 2018. She is survived by her sister, Marian Elizabeth Reed (Tom); brother, Thomas W. McElwee, Jr. (Laverne); nieces, Elizabeth Boward Holmes and Suzie Reed; nephews, Bryan and Tommy Reed; great-nephews, Caleb, Cameron, and Collin Holmes. Mary Lou was preceded in death by her husband, Richard A. Rich Marple; parents, Marian Rafferty and Thomas W. McElwee, Sr.; nephew, Spencer Thomas McElwee. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at Morrissett Funeral and Cremation Service, 6500 Iron Bridge Rd. (Rte. 10) with a celebration of her life to be held at 7:00 pm. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday at St. Augustine Catholic Church with a Mass of Resurrection being celebrated at 7:00 pm. Mary Lou will be interred next to her beloved husband, Rich, on Friday at 10:00 am in Mount Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to St. Augustine Catholic Church, 4400 Beulah Rd., N. Chesterfield, VA, 23237.

  1. Mary Lou was a wonderful woman and one I’m so glad I got to meet and know during my time at St Augustine’s in Richmond. She was such a strong fixture in our community, had such a terrific sense of humor, and I learned so much from our conversations. She will be greatly missed by many, and very much missed by me.

  5. Mary Lou was loved by everyone who knew her because she lived her life to help others. She is now with her Lord and her beloved Rich. She no longer has to fight cancer. RIP Mary Lou you have earned your reward.
