Obituary

Mary Love Ives Walston, 86, of North Chesterfield, VA went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 7, 2026. She was born in the Blackwater area of Princess Anne County, Virginia. She is preceded in death by her parents, Jeb Stuart Ives, Sr. and Louise Stallings Ives; brother, Jeb Stuart Ives, Jr.; and niece, Laura Etzell.

Mary Love is survived by her beloved husband of over 61 years, Durant “D.B.” Banks Walston, Jr.; son, Craig Ives Walston, daughter, Caryn Walston Conwell (Michael); grandchildren, Abby Conwell and Alex Conwell; sister-in-law, Sharon Walston Etzell (Steve); nephew, Matthew Etzell; and numerous family and friends.

Mary Love was a longtime member of Beulah Church and previously attended Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church and Hickory United Methodist Church in Chesapeake, Virginia. She was a private person who deeply loved her family, as well as the many animals she and her husband cared for over the years, especially their beloved granddog, Bodie.

Mary Love enjoyed camping, particularly trips to Myrtle Beach, and cherished attending shows at the Carolina Opry. In her earlier years, she had a passion for cooking and took great joy in collecting cookbooks. She had a special fondness for Ukrop’s—famously once leaving her checkbook behind and being trusted to return later to pay—and she never passed up a trip to Cracker Barrel or a good sweet treat. Above all, she devoted herself to caring for her children and creating a warm, loving home.

She also found great happiness in attending Bill Gaither concerts. Mary Love will be remembered as a loving and caring wife, mother, and grandmother whose quiet strength and devotion touched all who knew her.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the nursing staff who cared for Mary Love over the years. Their compassion, dedication, and kindness meant so much to her and to all of us.

A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 14, 2026 at Moyock Memorial Cemetery, 230 Caratoke Hwy
Moyock, NC 27958 and a celebration of life will be held 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 16, 2026 at Beulah Church, 6930 Hopkins Road, North Chesterfield, VA 23234.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions may be made in Mary Love’s name to Beulah Church, 6930 Hopkins Road, North Chesterfield, VA 23234.
