Obituary

Mattie R. Beer, 89, of N. Chesterfield, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 19, 2014. Mattie is preceded in death by her parents, Eva Davis and David Rock, and five brothers. Mattie is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Murray Beer; her daughters, Virginia Rosen (Jesse) and Mary Ann Smith (Robert); son, James H. Coates (Pat); sisters, Mary Kent (Talmadge) and Annie Mae Harrington (Don); brothers, Albert (Heidi) and Jim Rock; grandchildren, Steve, Eddie, Bobby, and Cindy; great grandchildren, Jay, Chris, Robert III, and two great great grandchildren. Special thanks to Dr. Kelly White and Nurse Melanie Rand for years of care given to Mattie. Thanks to Nancy Lentz of the Greater Richmond Chapter of Alzheimer’s Association for years of advice, listening, guidance, and respite. Last but not least, thanks to Heartland Hospice for making Mattie’s last days as painless as possible and to Princess who kept Mattie beautiful, clean, and smiling. May you all be richly and truly blessed. Please keep doing what you all do so well; there are many others that need your TLC. The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 23, 2014 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Morrissett Funeral & Cremation Service, 6500 Iron Bridge Rd (Rte 10). Her funeral service will follow at the funeral home at 2:00 p.m. Interment will proceed at Dale Memorial Park. Mattie has been a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
