Obituary
SEWARD, Melissa B., 48, of Georgetown, TX, passed away on June 25, 2024. Melissa was born on January 1, 1976, and grew up in Chesterfield, Virginia. She graduated from Longwood University and began her career as a special education teacher. She met Paul in the summer of 1995, and they married in June of 2000, welcoming their daughter Zoe in December of 2005.
Melissa’s journey through motherhood is a testament to her strength and love. She devoted herself wholeheartedly to her roles as wife and mother, creating many family memories with Paul and Zoe, particularly at the beach, at Disney, Great Wolf Lodge, at any of Zoe’s activities including competitive dance and at local hockey games. Zoe was her entire world, and she lit up when speaking about her. They made many memories together throughout their adventures.
As a devoted educator, Melissa inspired colleagues by sharing her knowledge with passion and dedication. She advocated for all students and mentored new and veteran teachers throughout her career. Melissa’s teachings weren’t only found within her classroom walls but also in the guidance and comfort she provided to her friends, helping them navigate challenges with resilience and joy.
Melissa was a true friend and an example for many in her life. She shared her excitement for new hobbies, movies, and activities with her friends and family and created many strong and lasting friendships. Her sense of humor, adventurous spirit, and kind heart will be remembered by all who knew and loved her. Melissa’s dedication to motherhood, friendship, and education leaves a lasting legacy in our lives.
She was a blessing to her family. She was selfless and kind, never thinking of herself, but always thinking of what she could do for others. She also had a bit of a prankster spirit and would play jokes on family members, especially when on vacation. So thankful to have such a loving, thoughtful daughter, sister, and aunt.
Melissa was predeceased by her grandmother, Nellie Bew; grandfather, Russell Bew; and grandmother, Joyce Martin. She is survived by her husband, Paul Seward; daughter, Zoe Seward; father, Dennis Bew and stepmother, Tracey Bew; half-sister, Kendall Price and her husband Blake Price; and her niece, Ayla Price. As well as her second dad, Steve Martin and his wife Sandy; mother, Pat Kindervater and her husband, Ed Kindervater; and brothers, Andrew and Anthony Martin. I am totally shocked that such a wonderful, very giving, Melissa, is no longer with us on this earth. She was kind, loving and a wonderful friend, who never met a stranger. A wonderful mother to Zoe, who has made her mother very proud and one of the last posts I saw was when Paul, Melissa and Zoe were getting things settled at Texas Tech. Melissa gave so much to every child she came in contact with and was very good at her job in Leander Schools. RIP Melissa, you are definitely an angel and will certainly be missed by many, many people whose lives you touched. Sending my love to Paul and to Zoe, a great family that did so many things together. This news is truly a shock.
Love,
Janet Brewster

Paul and Zoe, you are in my thoughts and prayers. I have been in complete shock since hearing Melissa left this earth and I know she is now in a better place. She will be missed by many, many people. So kind, caring, and was a guiding light for children and a great teacher. One of the last posts I saw was when Paul, Melissa and Zoe went to Texas Tech, where Zoe will go to college. Paul and Melissa are so proud of Zoe’s accomplishments. They have done a great job. I’m so glad I got to know Melissa and be around her during our dance days at Cedar Park Dance Company. We had many fun times and I’ll never forget her smile. RIP sweet lady and know you left your mark on many people throughout your life.

Zoe this message is especially for you. Your mom and I taught together at MES right when she and your dad got married. Our classrooms were just down the hall from each other and I spent a lot of hours in her classroom chatting about everything and nothing. I remember she and your dad buying their first house in preparation of you. Even though I moved away before you were born, I watched you grow up through your mom’s many posts on Fb. I loved seeing all of your dance pictures and your annual trips back to Virginia. Your mom was such a proud mom! I am so sorry that you have lost her way too soon. Please know that she lives on in your heart and the hearts of so many that she has touched over the years.
With my deepest sympathy and prayers,
Tabatha Reeves
