Obituary

SEWARD, Melissa B., 48, of Georgetown, TX, passed away on June 25, 2024. Melissa was born on January 1, 1976, and grew up in Chesterfield, Virginia. She graduated from Longwood University and began her career as a special education teacher. She met Paul in the summer of 1995, and they married in June of 2000, welcoming their daughter Zoe in December of 2005.

Melissa’s journey through motherhood is a testament to her strength and love. She devoted herself wholeheartedly to her roles as wife and mother, creating many family memories with Paul and Zoe, particularly at the beach, at Disney, Great Wolf Lodge, at any of Zoe’s activities including competitive dance and at local hockey games. Zoe was her entire world, and she lit up when speaking about her. They made many memories together throughout their adventures.

As a devoted educator, Melissa inspired colleagues by sharing her knowledge with passion and dedication. She advocated for all students and mentored new and veteran teachers throughout her career. Melissa’s teachings weren’t only found within her classroom walls but also in the guidance and comfort she provided to her friends, helping them navigate challenges with resilience and joy.

Melissa was a true friend and an example for many in her life. She shared her excitement for new hobbies, movies, and activities with her friends and family and created many strong and lasting friendships. Her sense of humor, adventurous spirit, and kind heart will be remembered by all who knew and loved her. Melissa’s dedication to motherhood, friendship, and education leaves a lasting legacy in our lives.

She was a blessing to her family. She was selfless and kind, never thinking of herself, but always thinking of what she could do for others. She also had a bit of a prankster spirit and would play jokes on family members, especially when on vacation. So thankful to have such a loving, thoughtful daughter, sister, and aunt.

Melissa was predeceased by her grandmother, Nellie Bew; grandfather, Russell Bew; and grandmother, Joyce Martin. She is survived by her husband, Paul Seward; daughter, Zoe Seward; father, Dennis Bew and stepmother, Tracey Bew; half-sister, Kendall Price and her husband Blake Price; and her niece, Ayla Price. As well as her second dad, Steve Martin and his wife Sandy; mother, Pat Kindervater and her husband, Ed Kindervater; and brothers, Andrew and Anthony Martin. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 pm on Tuesday, July 2 at Morrissett Funeral & Cremation Service, 6500 Iron Bridge Rd., N. 1. Matt and I were devastated to hear the news of Melissa passing. What a great friend, mom, wife, teacher, sister, anything you could think of, she was great. I’ll always remember her beautiful smile and what a force of nature she was. It was always a fun time if Melissa was around. We are so sorry that she is gone from this word. But she will never be forgotten. We will always be here for you Paul and Zoe.
    Sincerely- Matt and Suzanne Wieringo

  2. I met Melissa about a year ago when I began working at Camacho Elementary. She quickly became someone I admired and learned from. She was knowledgable, dedicated, professional, and friendly. She often spoke about her daughter, and I knew that she was very proud of her. I am so sad that I only knew her for a year. My condolences.

  3. It is with deep sadness that I leave this condolence note, because Melissa left us so suddenly or left at all. The shock is lingering and heartbreaking 💔 😢. Melissa had been known to me for the past 4 years as we worked together in the Special Education Department at Camacho Elementary. To know Melissa is to love Melissa and you’re never a stranger after meeting her. She was a master at her craft! She breathed Special Education, especially Dyslexia. She was going to be our Team Lead this upcoming school year. We had already started preparing the ground work for scheduling and so much more. We had so many plans! I was so excited to work even closer with her and learn even more. I was honored to observe her teaching a Dyslexia lesson this past school year! She knew her content and presented it like a magician, like the pro she was. I was so in awe at her wealth of knowledge in her field and her students were so much better for it.
I am grateful that I told her so many thank yous and that she was great at what she did, not that she needed my approval, she was confident in her own skin and of her abilities. My heart totally breaks for her students who will miss her immensely, she was their safe place.
Melissa loved Chick-fil-A. I would joke about them needing to name one of the dining rooms in her honor🎖 Even though Melissa loved Chick-fil-A she loved her family more, especially her Zoe. She spoke about her constantly. We would bond over the joy of having one girl and child who wasn’t difficult but easy going and just lovely. She spoke of her many trips with her family to see a hockey game🏑! Oh she loved the adrenaline rush of the sport.
Oh my dear, sweet, always helpful, always smiling, always just a beautiful human being, Melissa! Why did you leave so soon? I know God called you home because your work here was done and you had to say yes! However, the pain of losing you is so hard to bear. My heart breaks 💔 for Zoe and Paul you were their rock. I continue to pray for their strength and peace during this unbelievably difficult time. Please rest in peace and may light perpetual shine upon you sweetie! 💔❤️🙏💜💜

  4. We are heartbroken to hear of the passing of Mrs. Seward. She will always hold a special place in our family’s heart. My son, Jett absolutely loved and adored her. Every day he had a Mrs. Seward story and was so worried about not seeing her every day when he went to middle school next year. He spent most of his free time in her classroom and they often bonded over Disney World, Harry Potter and ways to make both their dreams come true. Mrs. Seward really got Jett and wasn’t just a teacher to him but gave him a place to belong. She helped him to understand his dyslexia and learn to really love reading even when it wasn’t easy. Everything she said was gold to him. She even made him lists of all of her favorite things at every park in Disney when we went on our vacation. They were best buds for many years and Camacho will be a little less bright without her there. Sending all of the love, hugs and prayers from Leander TX.
Our reading super hero will be dearly missed! Love to all,
    The Chesser Family

  5. G.P. says:

Melissa and I met at CCE and instantly formed a bond over Thirty-One bags, colorful nails and pretty pens. Soon, that bond grew deeper and turned to working together to find ways to reach our shared students, make phonics lessons meaningful to all and creating the school yearbook. I feel so blessed to have known Melissa I will miss our conversations and frequent laughs. I will do my part to continue Melissa’s passion for supporting both staff and students on our campus. Paul and Zoe, y’all will continue to be in my thoughts and prayers.
