Obituary

Melvin Clarence Fallwell, 88, of N Chesterfield, VA, passed away on Friday, September 26, 2025. He was born on February 8, 1937, in Chase City, VA to the late Winston Fallwell and Jessie Fallwell Jones. Melvin was preceded in death by his wife of 36 years, Maggie Fallwell, by his wife of 8 years, Edith Fallwell, and his sister Helen Fallwell.

Melvin is survived by his wife of 14 years, Peggy Fallwell, stepdaughters Denise Clinton, and Janet Britt; daughters, Patricia Greer and Lori Ward; grandchildren, Erin Croom (Jonathan), Mason Ward (Erika), Jackson Ward (Sarah), and Maggie Ward; and great-grandchildren; Sage Croom, Collins Ward, and Gabriel Ward.

Melvin graduated from Chase City High School in 1954, before proudly serving his country in both the United States Navy and Air Force. Following his military service, he began operating service stations in the Richmond area for Gulf Oil Company.  In 1975, Melvin purchased a station on Jeff Davis Highway from Gulf.  Mel successfully owned and operated his business until his retirement in 1998. Outside of his professional life, Melvin enjoyed watching football and wrestling.  His favorite pastimes were fishing, camping, shopping in thrift stores, and playing games.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Followed immediately by a service at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at Morrissett Funeral & Cremation Service, 6500 Iron Bridge Road, North Chesterfield, VA 23234. Interment will be held at a later date in Franklin, TN.
