Obituary

Michelle Curley Tyson, 65, of N. Chesterfield, VA passed away peacefully at home on June 19, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer, with her devoted husband, Larry Tyson, by her side.

Born on June 30, 1959, in Lapeer, Mich., she grew up there and earned her degree in Retailing from Michigan State University. Michelle’s career took her to Washington, D.C. where she worked for Garfinckel’s and Britches of Georgetowne. She later transferred to Richmond to help open the first Britches store. After changing careers to become a loan officer, she joined Mid-Atlantic Bank which became SunTrust and then Truist. She helped countless customers achieve their home ownership dreams and retired in Dec. 2021 after 33 years.

Michelle loved being a doting aunt as well as dog mom to Cooper. She enjoyed golfing at Meadowbrook Country Club where she was an active member and met her future husband. They were together 10 years before marrying June 24, 2016 and enjoyed almost 9 more years together.

Michelle is survived by her loving husband, Larry Tyson; her father Joseph F. Curley; her twin brother Michael Curley (Lori); sisters Celeste Curley-Black (Gary Black), and Tricia Huston (Jeff); brother-in-law John Thomas Tyson, Sr. (Vickie Graham Tyson), and her beloved nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Barbara Curley.

A Celebration of Life will be held on July 18, visitation begins at 1:00 pm before the 2:00 pm service at Morrissett Funeral and Cremation Service, 6500 Iron Bridge Rd, N. Chesterfield, VA, www.morrissett.com. A reception for family and friends will follow at Meadowbrook Country Club, 3700 Cogbill Rd, Richmond, VA.  The family is grateful for the care Michelle received at Massey Comprehensive Cancer Center.
