Obituary

Cartrette, Murray Oliver, 57, of Chesterfield, went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 30, 2009. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Deborah Cartrette; son, John Cartrette; daughter, Lisa Cartrette and her fiancé, Sam Dixon; grandchild, Madyson Dixon; brothers, Frank and Buck Cartrette, and James Wright; sisters, Myrtle Watson, Gladys Strickland, and Denzil Lovett. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Dulah Cartrette. Murray served in the US Army during the Vietnam Conflict. Mr. Cartrette worked at Phillip Morris for 27 years. He had a passion for cars, car shows, and bass fishing. He was known for his volunteer work and his devotion to his wife and children. Murray and Deborah were married at the last Q94 Raft Race at Berkeley Plantation. The family will receive friends from 5 to 6 pm today at the Morrissett Funeral Home, 6500 Iron Bridge Rd. (Rt. 10). His funeral service will follow at 6 pm at the funeral home. Interment is private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Richmond SPCA at 2519 Hermitage Rd., Richmond, VA 23220.
