Obituary

MASON, Nancy K. of Richmond passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 31, 2024 at the age of 88. She was born on November 18, 1935, the youngest daughter of William Bentley Kitchen and Viola Woodfin Kitchen. She was preceded in death by her husband of 29 years, Morris Elsworth Mason.  She is survived by her eldest son, Robert Morris Mason and his wife Jane Scott (Scottie) Evans Mason, her youngest son, Kenneth Allen Mason and his wife Tara Lawson Mason and her step-daughter, April Karen Mason and her husband Patrick Jasper Lambeth; her seven grandchildren, Evan Robert Mason, Anna Scott Mason, Siena Elizabeth Mason, Riley Elise Mason, Marc Allen Singleton, Charles Wesley Major and Samuel Mason Major; her three great grandchildren, Levi Mason Major, Liam James Major and Harper Mae Singleton.

She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, daughter and wife and a reliable friend to so so many.  She devoted a large part of her adult life to raising her children and being actively involved in their lives. For over 40 years, she was a faithful, dedicated member of Beulah Methodist Church.  During her career, she served as the legal secretary for her husband for many years, and after his passing, she took an administrative position with Chesterfield County Animal Control Department.  For fun, Nancy loved to travel and she had quite the adventurous spirit, being fortunate to travel to Italy, Alaska, Hawaii, Mexico, Jamaica and many other lesser exotic locations. She so loved nature, gardening, hummingbirds and especially spending time with her grandchildren.

Her remains rest at the Morrissett Funeral Home located at 6500 Iron Bridge Road in Chesterfield, Va, where the family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 17, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with the funeral service immediately following at the Morrissett Chapel. A private graveside service for family only will be held at 1:30 p.m. that afternoon at the Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery, located at 2901 West Hundred Road in Chester, Va.
