Important Update Regarding COVID-19
Morrissett Funeral and Cremation Service is constantly monitoring the rapid changes of COVID-19 (Corona Virus)
We are following instructions by the Governor of Virginia, The CDC, The National Funeral Directors Association, The Virginia Funeral Directors Association and Regulatory Support Services.
The following outlines the Phase 3 procedure in compliance with the Governor’s current order of 50% capacity.
As of May 15, 2020, Governor Northam has begun to allow some businesses and places of worship and or ceremony to operate at 50% occupancy. We are committed to the families we serve and the communities that support them. We ask that families consider that the type of gatherings they hold to be ever mindful of those who attend, and their health and well-being. We also ask that you refrain from hugging or shaking hands and practice safe social distancing.
What this means for services:
As of May 26, 2020, Governor Northam has put an order in place requiring masks to be worn when in public buildings. In order to protect the vulnerable and high-risk members of the community, it is highly recommended that face masks be worn. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide masks for visitors; please utilize your own. Failure to use a mask while in our establishment will be an assumed release of liability.
All Morrissett Staff will be wearing face masks at all times.
We have placed hand sanitizer and polite reminders throughout the building to assist with cleanliness. We have upgraded the air filters on all of our HVAC systems to promote cleaner air exchange. If you are not in attendance and would like to pass condolences or have your name added to the guest book, please call us and we will assist or utilize the online condolences at Morrissett.com.
Once again, we ask you to practice safe social distancing, and to please not attend if you are ill or at high risk.
Families that maybe in need of our services in the coming weeks, please know that we will care for you and your loved ones with the utmost respect and assist you in the options we feel are safe and that comply with the Governor of Virginia’s limitations and the CDC.
This can mean public or private family services. We promise to work with you as families and your comfort level and desires to honor your loved one.
Please be aware that no coffee, cookies, or cups of water will be available to any guest or families. We will have bottled water available at your request.
As we monitor this ever rapidly changing situation, we will continue to provide updates in regard to the measures we are taking. We appreciate the support and kindness shown during this difficult time. If you have any questions or need further assistance, please contact us at 804-275-7828 or e-mail to Staff@Morrissett.com

I am deeply sorry for your loss. Reed was a great friend of mine, while I was a young lad attending Virginia State University. Although he had since graduated before I arrived, he really looked out for me and others from the Roanoke area. His encouraging and upbeat presence, that I remember, will be truly missed.

I worked for Nat when I was a younger supervisor at UPS and he had a tremendous influence on me. He could always calm me down and help me see all sides of a problem. He truly cared for the people he managed. I believe I learned more about leadership from him than anyone else in my career at UPS.
I pray peace for all of Nat’s family and he will be very much missed but always remembered!

I am so sorry for your loss. I worked with Nat at UPS for many years. Although I didn’t work directly with him, I will tell you he as always incredibly kind, honest, and helpful. He touched the life of everyone he encountered. His family will be in my thoughts and prayers. Heaven has a new angel.

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Reed. While we were from the same area, I did t meet him until my freshman year at Virginia State University. Reed always had a smile on his face and a good word to share. I will miss his laugh and asking how my wife and sons were doing. My sincere condolences to his family and numerous friends. God has truly called an angel home.
